CHOCOLATE 'DEPRESSION' VINEGAR CAKE
Inspired by the Bon Appetite, Nana's Chocolate Vinegar Cake recipe, we made our own 'Depression' Cake recipe with our raw & organic Apple Cider Vinegar.
¾ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
2 cups sugar
2½ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ cup cocoa powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1½ cups water
2 scant tablespoons Vermont Village Raw & Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
1½ cups powdered sugar
¼ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
⅓ cup cocoa powder
¼ cup brewed coffee
Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, mix dry cake ingredients together. In a medium sized bowl, mix the wet ingredients until fully combined and then add to the dry ingredients. Bake for 20-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow cake to cool completely before adding the frosting.
For the frosting combine powdered sugar and butter in a medium sized bowl. Add cocoa powder and coffee and continue to mix until fully combined. Frost cake and dust lightly with some coffee grounds.
